The National Early Warning Platform issued alerts for Al-Kharj and Yanbu in the early hours of Saturday after missiles launched from Iran were detected, with instructions to follow safety guidance. Civil Defense announced the all-clear later in the morning.
The Ministry of Defense had reported destroying eleven drones the previous day.
What the Targets Say
Neither city is a random choice. Al-Kharj sits near defense infrastructure south of the capital. Yanbu is the Red Sea terminus of the East-West pipeline, the port through which Saudi crude has exited since the Strait of Hormuz closed.
Targeting Yanbu is an attempt to reach the workaround itself. The adversary reads the same map the credit agencies read. The alert, the intercepts and the all-clear indicate the attempt did not change anything on that map.
The System Itself
The alerts arrived by cell broadcast, the distinctive-tone messages the early warning platform pushes to every connected phone in an affected area. The sequence ran as designed: detection, targeted alert, engagement, all-clear.
The pattern of the past week holds. Intercept the attacks, state them publicly, keep the mediation channel open. None of the three tracks paused for the sirens.
